#GhanaDecides2024: Here are the 11 disqualified presidential candidates

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has published a list of thirteen presidential candidates who would participate in the country’s Presidential poll scheduled for Dec. 7, 2024.

The Commission made the determination after thoroughly examining the nomination forms submitted by the various presidential candidates to ensure their compliance with requirements as set out by law.

The cleared Presidential candidates include John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akosua Frimpongma of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, and George Twum-Barima-Adu.

The rest are Christian Kwabena Andrews from the Ghana Union Movement, Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga representing the All People’s Congress, Akua Donkor of Ghana Freedom Party, Mohammed Frimpong of the National Democratic Party (NDP), and Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate.

However, the Electoral Commission has disqualified eleven presidential candidates from contesting the upcoming poll.

These include Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Desmond Kwame Abrefa, Nana Stephens Agyapong, Dr. Paul Perko, Mr. James Kwasi Oppong, Dr. Sam Ankrah, Dr. Nii Amu Darko, Samuel Apea-Danquah, all independent candidates.

The others are Dr John Kpikpi of the Progressive Alliance Ghana, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party (PNP), and Janet Asana Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP).
