Correction Policy

Correction policy: How JUSTFACT GHANA handles errors

JUSTFACT Ghana is committed to delivering the highest-quality journalism possible through creative storytelling to tell our audiences the complete truth backed by verifiable data.

We are committed to admitting mistakes in our publications. A critical part of our job as an independent fact-checking body is recognising the ethical responsibility to correct factual errors, large or small, including misspellings of names or wrong dates, and give the correction prominence in our publications.

Readers should expect JUSTFACT Ghana to correct errors in our digital graphics, videos, tweets, and news alerts.

How do we find the errors?

Sometimes, our staff writers spot errors in stories they file minutes or hours after publication. Past colleagues and the general public can also spot flaws and write to us at correct@justfactghana.com to correct them.

The flaws could be inaccurate descriptions, a wrong location or date, or other mistakes. We use a Correction Note or an Editor’s Note depending on the degree of the error.

JUSTFACT Ghana uses a Correction Note at the bottom of the publication to draw readers’ attention to corrected dates, misspellings of names, and wrong locations.

Also, we use an Editor’s Note to correct serious errors, such as factual inaccuracies, misdescriptions, omission of crucial information, and incorrect application of data.
